Ravensgate is a place of shadows, secrets and corruption. Into all of this fits The Foundry, a group of neophyte superheroes assembled and mentored by Joshua Caine and using the private Collegium Caine academy as a cover. Believing a local superhero-registration ordinance to be one tool by which a corrupt establishment neutralizes reform, Caine encourages his students to act as “unregistered vigilantes” and investigate the tangled web of local corruption.

Along the way, they face such distractions as terrorist attacks upon a political fundraiser and a refinery, they are exposed to the secret mystical nightlife of Ravensgate, and they come to grips with the city’s—-and their mentor’s—-past. In the process of gathering intelligence, they pick up a valuable ally in the enigmatic Tabula Rasa, gain legitimacy through Federal sanction, and travel to alternate dimensions in search of kidnapped loved ones. Each time the team exposes and thwarts one layer of corruption and intrigue, even more layers appear.

Two members of the team research the Byzantine web of alliances, counter-alliances and financial dealings—-only to find that the bad guys are either one step ahead or able to stage diversionary actions with impunity. Eventually, they discover the truth behind the diversions lies from within their ranks—-and from outside their timeline!

Having survived their trials and tribulations, The Foundry attempted—-twice—-to get some simple R&R. They have discovered their job is 24-7-365, and it’s not getting any easier.

In the “Anime Mundi” story arc, the team came face to face with the specters of death and defeat. One of their most elusive nemeses set into motion a series of events that not only changed the powers of a few Foundry members, but also threatened the careers of a few close allies.  For the rest of the story, and its end, consult the appropriate hyperlinks.
