NAME: Oscar Washington.
OCCUPATION: Associate Dean for Development and Community Relations,
Collegium Caine.
STATUS: US citizen, no criminal record.
EDUCATION: Bachelor of Arts in education, Collegium Caine.
MAIN POWERS: Mind and body control.
I was given the name of Oscar Washington by the social workers after I was
born. They had no means of identifying my mother after she died giving
birth to me. Apparently she walked in with a crowd of people to get out of
the weather at a taping of an episode of the JEOPARDY™ program. Who would
of thought a homeless woman, eight and a half months pregnant would have
been able to get by Security, but she did. I think I know how if I am my
mother’s son.
After having a uterine rupture, which I barely survive,
during the course of the taping, she was rushed to University Hospital and
I was delivered by emergency cesarean section. Mom did not make it. I
wonder how much better life would have been if she had, at least I would
have some questions answered.
No identification, no one stepping forth to give a positive
Identification, left me a ward of the State. So being moved from one
foster home after another just was not always a good thing. Some abusive,
some bitter sweet, but none lasting. I was with the Carpenters Home for
Children having the usual nutritious meal, an empty plate. The cook loved
to play favorites with some of us by choosing not to feed us as a cost
cutting measure. Of course you could get more than your fair share by
providing the Cook entertainment. That meant beating up on those smaller
then you and kissing the Cook’s ass. One day while being held down and
kicked I looked the Cook in the face and yelled “MAKE ‘EM STOP”! Something
flashed in my head and next thing I new Cook was beating kids off me with
her metal spoon and taking me to the infirmary to be fixed up. Got the
first decent meal I had had in my 6 months of being there. The next day
Cook was not so friendly but she and the other kids did leave me alone.
It took a while before I realized I had made something
happen. It made me real tired to do this THING, and I only used it when it
was a life or death situation. I knew to keep it too my self. Even then at
the age of ten I had gained some street smarts and knew when to keep an
advantage secret. Then at the age of 12, I woke up with sever itching and
pain in my hands. This seemed to get worse and worse, I could not even
feed myself. I was taken to the infirmary and as the Doctor who
volunteered to help us way ward folk examined me, I popped my claws for
the first time. I tried to use my THING to make him forget he saw this and
not only did it not work but he KNEW I had tried to make him forget. He
gave me some kind of shot that made me pass out and the next thing I knew
I was at the SCHOOL.
When I awakened I learned this was a school for special
people, people who had abilities like me. I learned my claws were
retractable, hidden in sheaths that blended in with the nails. I could
make them pop in and out when needed. I don’t know if I like this, but
life goes on. They gave me cloths and really good food. They wanted me to
learn and go to school. They seemed to care about me but I did not trust 'em.
I ran away. I lived on the streets in Portland for over 6 months. I knew I
was being watched, but did not care. Every now and then I would go back
and look at the place from the hill out side the walls. Usually there was
a bag with food, cloths and a little money hanging from a branch of the
tree I would sit under. It was like someone knew I was going to be there
that day and left it for me. I think it was maybe the Doctor.
One day I thought about reaching for the bag and it was
in my hand. But I had not gotten up on my toes to reach for it as before.
No I had not even left my sitting position. My arms had stretched up to
reach and grab the bag. I knew then that I had to go back to the SCHOOL. I
needed to learn more about myself and about the world I was going to live
in. Maybe I could find a home, a new life. Maybe I would just be in
JEOPARDY!

POWERS (altered by events in “Anime Mundi”):
1) WILLPOWER A: as defense, PR=1.
2) WILLPOWER B: +18 END, +10 INT, Speed of Thought (uses INT, not AGI, for
Initiative).
3) MIND CONTROL: R=C/5=3, PR=20 (if successful), no spoken controls (eye
contact), 10 or 14 to hit.
4) TRANSFORMATION: CAT FORMS (Animal/Plant Powers with Size Variation):
a) HEIGHTENED SENSES (Detect Hidden and Detect Danger are at base 100 and
120 with Olfactory and Hearing Senses).
b) NATURAL WEAPONRY: +3 to hit, +6 damage, Special Ability (Pounce: if
leaping 10+”, uses the next highest HTH Damage Category), 13 to hit. See
chart below.
c) HEIGHTENED EXPERTISE (all attacks).
5) MAGICAL SPELLS: PR=var., powers as per Inventions, automatic LUCK
DEFENSE (reads on chart as Stretching Powers).
a) Purification—attacks as per Light Control (hit probability and damage
range), PR=1, R=INT. Damage versus material strength (or PR/HP) determines
if impurity is purged.
b) Dispel/Counterspell—hit probability as per Power Blast, R=INT, PR=1,
margin of success must exceed opposing mage’s.
c) Divination—as per Cosmic Awareness, PR=1d12, R=Infinite.
d) Adaptation—PR=1 per person per minute.
e) Localized Travel—as per Teleportation, but can vary the PR cost
corresponding to the distance desired. If using as an attack, R=(INT/3)
and PR=(1d4 x 1d4) + Standard. Distance increment is as per the rulebook.
f) Planar Travel—as per Dimensional Travel, but at +2 PR cost.
g) Magic Detection—Heightened Sense, R=2xINT, PR=1. Detection roll
succeeds if within range of (Detect Hidden x 4), is discriminatory if
within (Detect Hidden or Danger x 2), can analyze if within range of
either Detect.
h) Defense—combined defense as per both Force Field and Non-Corporeality,
PR=1 per person. Not an actual Force Field, just determines modified hit
probability.
i) Offense—mystic blast as per Force Field, PR=2, R=INT, 1d12 damage.
j) Warding Evil—PR=(damage/3), R=(INT/2), 1d20 damage, attacks as Light
Control. Knockback against undead equals the damage rolled. Against
summoned and extraplanar beings, there is a (damage)% chance of being
returned to their plane of origin, opposed by a percentile INT save. See
Purification for intangible and/or inanimate targets.
k) Glyph—PR=varies with area, R=0 (stationary or static area), Absorption
Capacity of (PR expended plus Caster Level) per round, material strength
matching Absorption Capacity. Defends as Willpower and Absorption (of
directed powers), with a base PR cost of 1 per round. Protection may be
extended at a cost of +1 PR/round for a 1” radius, doubled for each +1”
radius (e.g., 4 PR/turn for 2”). Absorption pays the PR cost of the
Willpower Defense. Attackers retain powers directed at the warded area,
unless they are physically inside it for a full turn and are of an
opposite alignment; they then must be outside the warded area for a full
round to regain any said power(s) lost. The caster may extend the duration
of the ward tenfold by expending double the PR; this is cumulative (e.g.,
+2 PR for 2½ minutes, +4 for half an hour, +8 for 5 hours, +16 for 2
days). One may destroy the ward by exceeding its material strength. CAT FORMS SIZE & DAMAGE CHART: |

Jeopardy
Nevermore's Evaluation:
Jeopardy's empathy for others is more to the surface than that of the
team's other orphan of unknown parentage. Whether this is a result or a
cause of his mental powers, I know not. My theory about his shapeshifting
is that it is in some way a manifestation of his early-childhood
identification with animals; given what I know of his early life,
household and/or stray pets were among the few creatures not mistreating
him.
Jeopardy has been able to put that past behind him to some degree. Of
everyone on the team, he seems the most well-adjusted: public job with
public contact, mature relationship with a member of the opposite sex,
respected leader in the classroom and on the field. He is able to "switch
gears" effortlessly between the different environments of his
compartmentalized life, and this may be a function of an intellect I have
measured in the high-200s on the Sanford-Binet, Mensa and Wechsler tests.
Nevertheless, he has come a long way from the young man who wrote this
autobiography: |
