Collegium Caine is a school for youth gifted with extreme intelligence in one or more academic disciplines, but who lack the proper environment for cultivation of their unique talents. [Translation: The Ravensgate Metro Area is home to the largest “super-powered” population in the US, and the school seeks out young “meta-humans” to teach right from wrong.] Located in Ditko Beach Park near the heart of Ravensgate, Oregon, the school is secluded from the hustle and bustle of the city yet is accessible to the Downtown business and cultural districts. Funded by the Caine-Devereaux Charitable Trust, the Collegium provides high-school equivalency and collegiate education on a sliding tuition scale.

Our student-to-teacher ratio is never greater than four-to-one, and we are thorough in our applicant-screening process. Alumni teach at many regional colleges and universities—Throckmorton Polytechnic University, Packwood College, the University of Ravensgate—-as well as the Collegium itself.

The Collegium offers a variety of physical activities for the benefit of student health, including access to the Ditko Beach Park and Corben Bluffs Golf and Country Clubs and the scenic Jericho Throckmorton Urban Wilderness Trail.

Devereaux Manor

Built in 1921 for bottling-plant magnate and long-time mayor Guillermo “Bottle Bill” d’Ambrosio, the 53-room mansion in what would later become Ditko Beach Park was a fortress of resistance in the dark days of Prohibition.  After the original owner’s death in 1947, the manor fell into disrepair but enjoyed a renaissance when purchased by the Devereaux family in 1960.

In the mid-1980s, the Daniel Devereaux turned a wing of the manor over to brother-in-law Joshua Caine, a maverick educator.  With the deaths of Daniel and Ruth Devereaux in 1993, Caine has taken over the entire mansion as its caretaker—-and the legal guardian of construction and land heiress Danielle Devereaux.

Unbeknownst to the public, the basement and caves below the manor are the base for The Foundry.  At their disposal are a variety of devices and computers, among them the Morell-designed artificial-intelligence device Deepthinker and futuristic airship Mistrunner.

Mistrunner

The Mistrunner’s outer design is inspired by the triangular craft of current-day UFO mythology. Its inner technology, however, is straight out of Morell’s home in the 22nd century. The vessel uses the Unified Field Theory to defy gravity and generate power. It can fly at speeds of up to 250 miles per hour, submerge up to 1000 feet below the ocean’s surface, and provide its passengers with stealth and armor protection despite its light weight. It is approximately 15 feet long and wide, and it provides enough passenger space to equal two Ford Explorer SUVs. Below is one of the rare photographs ever taken of this mystery machine.
